Research Fellow (Electrocatalytic Hydrogen)

About the role

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Materials Science Engineering at the National University of Singapore seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to advance an integrated solar water electrolyser project for green hydrogen production from seawater. The role combines experimental nanomaterial development with computational analysis in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, synthesize and characterise functional nanomaterials for electrocatalytic hydrogen generation.
• Build and operate laboratory‑scale reaction systems to evaluate catalytic performance.
• Conduct experimental studies and computational modelling to elucidate material properties and electrocatalytic behaviour.
• Collaborate with materials scientists, chemists and electronic engineers on interdisciplinary tasks.
• Publish high‑quality journal articles and meet grant deliverables.
• Perform routine laboratory duties and support additional tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong experimental research record with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Experience in advanced materials synthesis, characterisation, and electrolyser design/testing.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
