Research Fellow (Environmental Sciences) - Eddy Covariance Data Analysis

About the role

The Wetland Carbon Lab at NTU's Asian School of the Environment (ASE) studies wetlands and aquatic ecosystems such as mangroves, peatlands and streams as natural climate solutions, using field experiments, sensor networks, stable isotopes and modelling. The lab is seeking a Research Fellow to lead eddy covariance data analysis for greenhouse gas flux research in Southeast Asian wetlands, supporting NTU's mission of solution-oriented environmental research.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular quality assurance and quality control of eddy covariance and supporting meteorological data, and produce monthly data reports.
• Improve, standardize and automate EC pre- and post-processing workflows (flux calculation, filtering, gap-filling, flux partitioning, uncertainty estimation), with rigorous documentation and reproducibility.
• Prepare and contribute to peer-reviewed publications, research proposals, technical reports and internal notes, and present findings at scientific meetings.
• Contribute to developing a Southeast Asian flux tower network, including data harmonization and partner engagement.

Required profile

• PhD in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Micrometeorology, Biogeochemistry, Ecology or a closely related field.
• Strong experience in eddy covariance measurements of greenhouse gas (CO2, CH4) and energy fluxes.
• In-depth knowledge of eddy covariance theory and instrumentation, and of standard processing software.
• Analytical and modelling skills with R or Python, including experience building automated, reproducible data pipelines.
• Excellent scientific communication and interpersonal skills; proactive, independent and team-oriented.
