Research Fellow – Family Business

About the role

IMD is seeking a Research Fellow to strengthen its thought leadership on Asian family businesses. Working closely with senior faculty, you will conduct applied research that bridges academic rigor and practical impact for executives and family owners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute mixed‑method studies (qualitative interviews, focus groups, secondary data analysis, field experiments) on family‑owned firms in Asia.
• Produce scholarly articles for FT50 and other top‑tier journals.
• Develop case studies, reports, and practitioner‑oriented materials for IMD programmes and public platforms.
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and industry partners to translate insights into tools for governance, succession, innovation, and internationalisation.
• Manage the full publication process, from data collection to dissemination.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent research experience in family business, entrepreneurship, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous academic research and publish in high‑impact journals.
• Experience or strong interest in the Asian family business context.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
