Research Fellow – Hydraulics (Coastal Groundwater)

About the role

A one‑year Research Fellow position is available in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. The project focuses on coastal hydrogeology, seawater intrusion, freshwater lenses, and sustainable groundwater extraction, using analytical, numerical, laboratory and field‑constrained approaches to develop prevention strategies and protect freshwater resources.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory tests and perform numerical modelling of soil hydraulic properties and groundwater movement.
• Write project reports.
• Prepare scientific papers for publication.
• Supervise research students.

Required profile

• PhD in Hydraulics from a reputable university.
• Research experience in seawater intrusion and water‑resources utilization.
• Strong publication record in journals such as Journal of Hydrology or Water Resources Research.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Experience supervising research students and writing research proposals.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong initiative.
