Research Fellow II - Neuro-Oncology

About the role

The Neuro-Oncology Research Laboratory at the National Neuroscience Institute, part of SingHealth, is looking for a Research Fellow to join its recently awarded Joint SingHealth-Duke Neuro-Oncology programme focused on glioblastoma (GBM) translational research. The laboratory, led by A/Profs Christopher Ang Beng Ti and Carol Tang, has built a brain tumour resource (Glioportal) with patient-derived cells, orthotopic xenograft mouse models and clinically annotated molecular data. The role suits candidates with expertise in cancer models, especially cell cultures, cell-based assays and animal handling.

Key responsibilities

• Independently design, troubleshoot and run molecular biology, cell biology and biochemical experiments
• Establish and optimise functional cell-based assays
• Run in vivo studies using orthotopic GBM mouse models
• Identify research opportunities, solve experimental problems and propose new ideas
• Maintain accurate records, analyse data and share findings in team meetings and discussions
• Prepare and organise manuscripts and research reports for submission
• Follow ethical, biosafety and institutional guidelines

Required profile

• PhD in biomedical science, life sciences or equivalent
• Prior experience in laboratory cancer research
• Experience with animals (RCULA certified) preferred
• Demonstrable scientific track record with good publications
• Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication

Required skills

• Cell culture, molecular biology, quantitative real-time PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy and cell-based assays
• Python or R and bioinformatics tools for multi-omic analysis are a plus
