Research Fellow – Lipid Nanoparticle Delivery & Advanced Imaging

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at Nanyang Technological University seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow to advance our understanding of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) interactions with cellular membranes using cutting‑edge imaging and biophysical techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects investigating LNP‑membrane interactions, intracellular trafficking, and endosomal escape.
• Develop and apply advanced fluorescence and super‑resolution microscopy, live‑cell imaging, and single‑particle tracking.
• Design and use supported lipid bilayers, lipid vesicles, and other biomimetic membrane systems.
• Prepare, characterize, and evaluate LNP formulations for RNA and nucleic‑acid delivery.
• Supervise junior researchers, train students, and contribute to publications and grant proposals.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in bioengineering, biophysics, chemical engineering, materials science, pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related field.
• Strong scientific independence, problem‑solving ability, and excellent communication skills.
• Track record of first‑author publications in peer‑reviewed journals.

Required skills

• Advanced fluorescence microscopy and quantitative imaging.
• Experience with super‑resolution techniques (STED, SIM, PALM/STORM, expansion microscopy).
• Single‑particle tracking and live‑cell imaging.
• Supported lipid bilayers, lipid vesicles, and biomimetic membrane systems.
• Lipid nanoparticle formulation and RNA/nucleic‑acid delivery.
• Mammalian cell culture, molecular/cell biology, and biochemical assays.
• Programming and quantitative data‑analysis for image processing.
