Research Fellow (Mechanical Engineering)

About the role

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NTU is looking for a Research Fellow to lead the design, manufacturing, and industrial promotion of an electrical generating system that harnesses sea wave energy. The role involves team building and close collaboration with industry partners to bring the technology to market.

Key responsibilities

• Design, research and demonstrate wave‑energy equipment components.
• Procure consumables, manufacture prototypes and assemble wave‑energy devices.
• Coordinate large‑scale indoor testing of wave‑energy equipment.
• Develop channels and promote the technology at industry exhibitions.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum three years of management experience in the energy or aerospace sectors and at least one year of R&D experience in aerospace/defense.
• Proven ability to organise large‑scale experiments, ensure safety and resolve technical issues.

Required skills

• Proficiency with design software and manufacturing processes.
• Hands‑on operation of advanced characterization instruments such as TEM, Cs‑corrected TEM, Cryo‑EM, X‑ray diffraction (XRD) and universal testing machines.
