Research Fellow – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Research Fellow in Mechanical Engineering to develop thermal‑flow and bio‑engineering expertise within the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at NTU. The role supports the school’s ambition to become a world‑class centre, enhancing academic excellence and attracting industrial collaborations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a robust numerical model using the lattice Boltzmann method to simulate flow, heat transfer and phase‑change processes.
• Conduct thorough numerical investigations of phase‑change characterisations and propose physical scaling laws.
• Plan and execute experimental work to validate simulations.
• Produce high‑quality research outputs, write journal and conference papers, and supervise students.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with multi‑scale, multi‑phase numerical modelling and familiarity with lattice Boltzmann simulations.
• Strong coding skills in Fortran, C or C++ and experience with high‑performance computing.
• Solid knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and surface phenomena, with a proven publication record.
• Preferably expertise in deep‑learning approaches and experimental experience.
