Research Fellow – Polymeric Precursors for Ceramic Materials

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU seeks a Research Fellow (or Senior Research Fellow) to develop polymeric precursor formulations that can be converted into solid films and porous ceramic materials, and to explore their applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop precursor formulations for conversion into porous ceramic materials suitable for target applications.
• Conduct R&D activities including problem definition, lab‑scale and pilot‑scale experiments, sample characterization, and data analysis.
• Prepare technical reports, intellectual property documentation, safety documents, and academic publications.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Strong research experience in material science, chemical engineering or green technologies.
• Proficiency with hands‑on characterization techniques such as DSC, FTIR, DMA, rheology and mechanical testing.
• Industrial experience in scalability and productisation is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno‑Economic Assessment (TEA) is a plus.
• Good laboratory safety practice and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
