Research Fellow (Seismology)

About the role

The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), established in 2008, is a research institute focused on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, climate change and other environmental challenges in Southeast Asia. EOS is inviting applications for a Research Fellow with a strong background in earthquake monitoring. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to advanced approaches for investigating earthquake nucleation and propagation mechanisms, through independent and collaborative research and high-impact publications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply approaches for advanced earthquake source analysis
• Apply the developed system to seismic data from Singapore and its surroundings
• Publish high-impact research articles in leading international journals
• Assist in preparing and developing competitive research proposals
• Support the supervision and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students

Required profile

• PhD in seismology and solid geophysics
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in earthquake monitoring
• Familiarity with related literature and software
• Good written and oral communication skills
