Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow in Systems Neuroscience or NeuroAI

About the role

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU seeks a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to join the Neuroscience and AI Research (Nair) group. The role focuses on understanding how machine learning models and neural circuits process emotional states, combining cutting‑edge systems neuroscience with innovative AI methods.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑vivo neural recordings in rodent models of social behavior and decision‑making.
• Analyze high‑dimensional brain data and lead an independent research project.
• Develop and apply machine learning and computer vision techniques, including large‑language and vision‑language models, for high‑throughput video analysis.
• Use data‑driven dynamical system modeling tools to elucidate neural computations of emotion.
• Prepare grant applications, present at conferences, and draft manuscripts for top neuroscience and AI journals.
• Participate in weekly lab meetings and journal clubs, presenting data and literature.

Required profile

• PhD in systems neuroscience, computational neuroscience, AI/ML, or a related interdisciplinary field.
• For a systems neuroscience focus: experience with stereotaxic surgery, optogenetics, and in‑vivo microendoscopic imaging in rodents.
