Research Scientist - AI, Data and Agent

About the role

Bosch is looking for an entrepreneurial Research Scientist focused on AI, Data and Agents to lead research initiatives from concept to real-world impact. The role bridges academic research with industry solutions, turning exploratory ideas into measurable business value. It covers data- and AI-driven innovation across domains such as Sustainability, Production IT and Robotics, using AI agents, knowledge-based systems and machine learning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary research projects from concept through deployment and customer handoff, owning outcomes at every stage.
• Rapidly prototype solutions, validate core assumptions and iterate to maximise research impact and business value.
• Act as technical authority, guiding stakeholder engagement and aligning customer objectives with project delivery.
• Select and apply effective methodologies to engineer scalable, data-driven solutions.
• Balance rigorous scientific standards with enterprise-grade software engineering practices.
• Formulate research hypotheses, turn business needs into technical roadmaps and communicate solutions to leadership and clients.
• Track emerging developments in AI, data science and adjacent fields.
• Partner across cross-functional teams and explain complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

Required profile

• Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or a related engineering field.
• Demonstrated experience in R&D or academic research environments.
• Proven track record of turning research concepts into working prototypes and functional solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Preferred: Ph.D., published research, experience leading technical teams or managing research initiatives, background in sustainability, production IT or robotics, and experience in startups or product development.
