Science Lab Aide & Teaching Assistant (Lorong Chuan)

About the role

We are looking for a Science Lab Aide cum Teaching Assistant to support science lessons at a school in Lorong Chuan. The role involves preparing laboratory materials, maintaining safety standards, and assisting teachers with practical experiments over a one‑year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up laboratory materials, apparatus and specimens for science lessons and the annual practical test, ensuring equipment is safe and functional.
• Maintain clean and tidy laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas, wash glassware, and ensure equipment is well‑maintained.
• Enforce safety guidelines, keep Safety Data Sheets up to date, and manage safe storage, handling and disposal of chemicals and biological waste.
• Carry out stock‑taking, update inventory records, propose purchases of science materials, and receive and check deliveries.
• Support green initiatives by maintaining live plants, managing an indoor hydroponic system, and assisting with garden spaces and recess programme activities.

Required profile

• Minimum academic qualification: GCE ‘O’ Level with passes in Science subjects, or Nitec/Higher Nitec in a science‑related discipline.
• Knowledge and skills: basic understanding of scientific apparatus and competence in handling reagents and simple experimental set‑ups.
• Experience: prior experience in a school laboratory role is an advantage.
