Senior AI Scheduling & Orchestration Engineer

About the role

Bitdeer, a technology company for Bitcoin mining and AI cloud headquartered in Singapore, is hiring a Senior AI Scheduling & Orchestration Engineer. You will design and run the scheduling layer of large-scale AI clusters, integrating it with bare-metal hardware and storage.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement batch scheduling architectures using frameworks such as Volcano or YuniKorn for multi-node gang scheduling.
• Develop cluster-wide admission control and job queueing mechanisms using Kueue to handle high-volume AI workload traffic.
• Use Kubernetes Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA) and custom scheduler plugins to manage complex accelerator requests.
• Architect topology-aware pod placement for low-latency communication over NVLink and InfiniBand fabrics.
• Implement automated GPU sharing (e.g., MIG, time-slicing) and multi-tenancy isolation policies.
• Work with the GPU Systems and Storage teams so the scheduler integrates with bare-metal hardware and storage I/O.
• Improve reliability and scalability of the scheduling stack, resolving resource contention and deadlocks in large HPC environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of distributed systems engineering with hands-on Kubernetes scheduling expertise.
• Experience operating, debugging and scaling scheduling stacks in HPC or large production cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of GPU hardware and scheduling challenges in distributed AI training and inference.
• Technical communication and leadership skills, able to influence cross-functional teams.
