Senior Analytics Manager - Risk & Controls

About the role

Wise is looking for a Senior Analytics Manager to join its Financial Crime team in the APAC region. The role partners with product teams to turn data into growth decisions while helping to combat financial crime, striking a balance between user experience and risk prevention. It sits within the Risk & Controls team, whose mission is to stay ahead of emerging risks while keeping customers' experience seamless.

Key responsibilities

• Make process data available to product teams in a meaningful, actionable way so users can access it proactively without needing analyst help
• Own, create and track key metrics and results for product and operational teams, keeping them accountable through the quarter
• Support stakeholders with research, reports and visualisations
• Work with data scientists to understand and develop ways to detect and mitigate financial crime
• Build the framework for managing risk and customer experience at scale
• Lead the discovery phase by scoping new opportunities and suggesting features, rules and models to combat emerging risks
• Collaborate with Product, Data Scientists, Engineering and Operations teams
• Lead and develop a team of 3 analysts, helping them set priorities, coach for impact and maintain quality standards

Required profile

• Strong quantitative skills; ideally a background in statistics, maths, physics, engineering or another scientific field
• Experience in the financial crime domain (typologies and alert investigations), balancing risk and customer experience
• 9-10+ years of data analytics experience (financial crime or risk analytics) and 4-5+ years leading others
• Ability to structure business problems with minimal supervision, prioritise independently and simplify complex systems into clear data models
• Hustler mentality: taking work beyond the analysis and getting things done

Required skills

• SQL and Python/R
• Data visualisation tools such as Looker, PowerBI or Tableau, with data storytelling
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions
• Nice to have: user-facing products and machine learning experience, knowledge of sanctions compliance, regulatory reporting and A/B testing
