Senior Associate, Actuarial Reserving

About the role

AIG is looking for a Senior Associate, Actuarial Reserving to join its regional reserving team in the APAC region. You will work with analysts and experienced actuaries to give actuarial advice to business functions such as profit centres, underwriting, finance and risk management. The role sits within the actuarial function of AIG APAC Holdings Pte Ltd.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in local GAAP quarterly reserving and solvency estimates for assigned APAC countries, and in US GAAP quarterly management results
• Help prepare annual Detailed Valuation Reviews, Insurance Liability Valuation Reports, Financial Condition Reports, ORSA and stress testing
• Support quarterly Board and Risk committee reporting, and review capital targets and investment strategies including ALM
• Prepare quarterly Investment Committee reports and support the budget loss ratio exercise and annual financial planning
• Support strategic portfolio reviews and deep-dive analyses of business segments
• Assist with implementation of IFRS 17 reporting requirements and other ad-hoc analyses

Required profile

• Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics or a related field, with some progress towards a professional actuarial qualification
• 3+ years of experience in general insurance
• Familiarity with traditional actuarial techniques and models
• Ability to manage several tasks at once, meet tight deadlines and work as part of a team
• Willingness to work primarily in the office

Required skills

• Working knowledge of typical actuarial reserving software
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access
• Knowledge of VBA and SQL, and suitable coding languages
