Senior Backend Engineer – Global Payment

About the role

ByteDance’s Global Payment team is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build large‑scale payment systems that power TikTok and other platforms. You will own the architecture, delivery, and growth of account membership, merchant services, wallet products, and operational platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop global payment services, including account membership, merchant onboarding, wallet functionality, and operational tools.
• Analyze business scenarios to uncover payment pain points and drive systematic product development for rapid growth.
• Contribute to overall system architecture, optimize performance, and ensure high concurrency, reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
• Identify bottlenecks, improve system stability, and safeguard fund security during iterations.
• Lead technical innovation and research to support fast‑paced business development and efficient product iteration.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in large‑scale internet businesses.
• Strong computer‑science fundamentals with solid data‑structures and algorithms knowledge.
• Extensive coding and code‑review experience with a focus on best practices.
• Experience in payment‑related domains such as account membership, merchant services, or wallet products.
• Strong self‑motivation, communication, organizational skills, and a collaborative team spirit.
