Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

ScienTec Consulting is looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain secure, scalable backend systems supporting mission-critical government digital services. The role suits engineers who want to own backend development, AWS cloud infrastructure, system architecture and production reliability in a highly secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable backend applications and REST APIs using Node.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for backend systems, including architecture, development, deployment, monitoring and production support.
• Build and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS EC2, EKS, VPC and IAM, ensuring reliability, security and performance.
• Use Terraform/AWS CDK, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and Kubernetes to automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.
• Set up monitoring, logging, alerting, security hardening and troubleshooting to keep production environments stable and compliant.

Required profile

• 6-7+ years of experience in backend or software engineering, with proven ownership of production-grade applications.
• Experience in government cloud (GCC) or highly regulated environments is an added advantage.
