Senior Backend Engineer (Singapore)

About the role

Plaud is building a real‑world AI interface that amplifies professional intelligence. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own the evolution of its evaluation platform and data‑governance layer, ensuring production‑grade reliability and security for AI agents and internal tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver step‑level evaluation, automated regression analysis, and release quality gates that enforce production standards across product and engineering teams.
• Build and operate a data‑governance and security layer with real‑time PII masking, schema synchronization, versioned data dictionaries, and least‑privilege access controls.
• Develop reusable platform capabilities such as shared SDKs, workflow definitions, dataset/model/metric management APIs, and observability instrumentation.
• Define and enforce SLA targets, create alerting and incident‑analysis tooling, and establish quality‑gate mechanisms for trusted evaluation results.
• Apply AI/LLM techniques to replace brittle rule‑based logic where appropriate, and use AI‑assisted tools to improve engineering efficiency.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend/platform engineering experience, including 3+ years designing and operating complex distributed systems in production.
• Strong proficiency in Go and/or Java, with hands‑on experience building production microservices using Kubernetes/Docker, HTTP/gRPC, retries, rate limiting, circuit breaking, authentication, and fault isolation.
• Deep knowledge of database design, high availability, transaction isolation, idempotency, eventual consistency, observability, alerting, and incident analysis.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Argo Workflows and secure production‑data access patterns (access control, auditing, PII masking) in regulated environments.
• Familiarity with modern data infrastructure (Spark, Flink, Snowflake, Databricks, Athena) and data‑governance practices.
