Senior Cloud Performance Engineer

About the role

The Cloud Performance Engineering team at ClickHouse builds the cloud‑native ClickHouse Cloud Platform, a next‑generation OLAP solution. As a Senior Cloud Performance Engineer you will drive performance benchmarking, capacity planning and chaos‑engineering initiatives to ensure the platform scales reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Benchmark system and database performance, analyse results and recommend configuration optimisations.
• Develop, deploy and manage tools for chaos experiments and measure their impact on system resilience.
• Troubleshoot application and server errors, analyse logs and triage issues across the stack.
• Collaborate with core ClickHouse developers, cloud, and security teams to improve overall platform performance.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience building and operating scalable, fault‑tolerant distributed systems.
• Strong background in performance analysis, capacity sizing and test automation.
• Proven ability to lead large‑scope technical projects and work across multiple engineering teams.

Required skills

• Programming in Go, C/C++ or Java.
• Experience with concurrency, multithreading and distributed system architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) including services such as EC2.
• Knowledge of performance benchmarking, chaos engineering and system monitoring.
