About the role
Capital Group is hiring a Senior Corporate Governance Specialist for its EAPAC & ME team, based in the Singapore office (SIO). This is the sole corporate governance associate in SIO, but the person is fully integrated into the wider EAPAC & ME and Global Corporate Governance team within the Legal & Compliance department, working with colleagues across Europe and the United States. The role supports corporate governance activities across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, with a focus on entities and boards serviced from Singapore.
Key responsibilities
- Support boards and committees: manage corporate calendars, coordinate meetings and events across time zones, and prepare, collect and draft meeting materials.
- Provide day-to-day support and back-up for EAPAC & ME corporate governance matters, ensuring continuity of service to local boards, management companies and affiliated entities.
- Manage regulatory and statutory filings, monitor deadlines and ensure accurate, timely submissions.
- Contribute to, and sometimes lead, governance projects, policy updates, process improvements and cross-border initiatives with colleagues in Europe and the US.
- Act as the trusted point of contact in SIO for internal stakeholders, external counsel, directors and service providers, and partner with global colleagues to keep governance standards consistent.
- Serve as back-up to other team members across regions and share expertise.
Required profile
- Functional knowledge of corporate governance and regulatory compliance principles.
- Experience supporting corporate governance or similar matters, such as a compliance, legal or other oversight function in the financial industry.
- Experience working with cross-organizational and regional teams.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and to exercise sound judgement on standard and non-routine matters.
Required skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, able to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working with stakeholders across regions.
- Regulatory awareness and the ability to build working relationships across cultures and time zones.
What we offer
- Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, annual profitability bonus and a retirement plan with a 15% employer contribution.
- Health benefits and generous time away from day one, with flexible work options.
- Matching gifts for charitable donations and on-demand professional development.
Working conditions: hybrid, four days a week in the office (Monday to Thursday), with occasional travel as discussed with the manager.
