Senior Engineer - Biomedical Equipment

About the role

The National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) within SingHealth is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the management and lifecycle of biomedical equipment so that it remains safe, reliable and available for clinical use. The role works closely with clinical users, vendors and stakeholders to coordinate maintenance, equipment renewal, regulatory compliance and project implementation, and also supports facilities, building infrastructure and engineering systems.

Key responsibilities

• Commission biomedical equipment and systems to verify safety and performance against manufacturer specifications.
• Troubleshoot and rectify equipment malfunctions.
• Identify, schedule and manage in-house maintenance activities, including records, reports and data analytics.
• Prepare, submit and present investigation reports to management.
• Liaise with stakeholders to develop technical specifications, evaluate tenders, negotiate with vendors and recommend equipment purchases.
• Provide technical assistance and operating support to doctors, nurses and end-users on asset improvements and equipment purchases.
• Manage and coordinate biomedical equipment-related renovation, relocation and infrastructure enhancement projects.
• Work with TTSH and SGH Facilities Services on security, telecommunications and environmental services.
• Assist the supervisor by coordinating service and repair activities, managing service and maintenance contracts, and participating in cluster-level projects and policy updates.

Required profile

• Degree in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Strong experience in business operations and project management in a large establishment or institution, preferably healthcare.
• Independent, resourceful and able to work with minimal supervision; dependable and able to cooperate with external vendors and operators.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated initiative in managing projects and maintaining effective maintenance practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
