Senior Engineer, Electrical & Control

About the role

Air Liquide Singapore offers a strategic on-site engineering role to design, lead and manage the electrical and distribution control systems for Chemical and Slurry Distribution turnkey projects. The engineer takes full ownership of the electrical and control architecture, from conceptual design and schematic review to managing subcontractors that handle installation, testing and commissioning. The position acts as the core technical lead between design and field execution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, design and approve distribution control and electrical systems aligned with client specifications, project schedules and safety standards.
• Direct the preparation, review and redrafting of electrical schematics, control panel drawings, cable schedules and instrument loop diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with international semiconductor standards and local cleanroom EHS regulations.
• Manage, supervise and coordinate on-site electrical and control contractors, evaluate progress claims and monitor timelines.
• Work with QA/QC leads to audit electrical containment, safety grounding and termination quality.
• Lead testing and commissioning sequences, define test protocols, and validate fail-safe safety interlocks, EMO circuits and alarm sequences.
• Act as escalation point for Field Service Engineers and contractors during startup and wet-testing.
• Perform root-cause analysis of software anomalies, hardware faults and network issues, and debug PLC/HMI software and control loops on site.
• Integrate Chemical Distribution Modules with facility-wide SCADA platforms and Ethernet/IP networks.

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Proven track record designing, leading and managing electrical/control systems for process fluid, chemical or slurry distribution networks.
• Experience managing electrical and automation subcontractors on large-scale industrial or semiconductor projects.
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills with global engineering teams, subcontractor managers and client representatives.

Required skills

• PLC/HMI platforms and TCP/IP networking, with troubleshooting and debugging capability.
• OPC Servers (RSLinx, Kepware/IGS), SCADA platforms (Cimplicity, Wonderware) and PLC/HMI software (Allen Bradley Studio 5000 / Logix 5000, Emerson Proficy Machine Edition, Siemens TIA Portal).
