Senior Fleet Superintendent

About the role

The Senior Fleet Superintendent is the primary technical authority for a portfolio of vessels, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with legal, regulatory and company standards. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, this role acts as the key link between the ship, the client and BELSHIPS management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the highest safety standards, making critical decisions to protect crew, environment and assets.
• Deliver technical management services to clients, providing accurate performance and expenditure reports.
• Plan, control and execute maintenance, repairs, dry‑docking, conversions and modifications in line with flag, class and statutory requirements.
• Lead the selection, appraisal and development of senior ship officers, fostering a strong safety culture.
• Oversee the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) to ensure compliance with manufacturers' manuals and proper recording of repairs and spare parts.
• Monitor vessel performance trends (speed, fuel, lubricating oil, energy consumption) and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Serve as the first point of contact for clients and ship crews, handling issues promptly and efficiently.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in technical ship management and fleet supervision.
• Strong safety mindset with proven decision‑making ability.
• Excellent client‑facing skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
• Leadership experience in managing senior officers and driving performance improvements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with V.Ships VMS.
• Experience using ShipSure for maintenance records.
• Hands‑on knowledge of PMS processes and compliance with flag, class and statutory regulations.
