Senior Information Assistant (Library & Information Services Centre)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is seeking a proactive Senior Information Assistant to support its Library & Information Services Centre. The role involves sourcing, acquiring, and processing library resources to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of the NIE community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist academic staff with recommendations and enquiries on library resources.
• Liaise with vendors for acquisition, subscription, payment and renewal of library materials.
• Ensure electronic resources are accessible, troubleshoot basic access and technical issues.
• Maintain and update records for acquisitions, subscriptions and electronic resources.
• Compile usage statistics and generate reports.
• Source and order articles, papers, books and conference proceedings not held in the collection.
• Explore and apply AI‑enabled tools to improve workflow and service delivery.
• Provide frontline information desk service on scheduled evenings and Saturdays.
• Participate in library projects and initiatives as required.

Required profile

• Polytechnic Diploma, preferably in library studies.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in academic libraries or the financial/service sectors.
• Basic knowledge of acquisitions and subscriptions in an academic library environment (advantage).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with ability to learn library systems and digital platforms.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, and organisational skills.
• Customer‑service orientation, detail‑oriented and problem‑solving mindset.
• Fresh graduates with a keen interest in library work may also be considered.
