Senior Lawyer, Transaction Banking

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our supportive Institutional Legal team and partner with the growing Transaction Banking business. The role provides broad, high‑impact legal support across Payments & Cash Management and Clearing (PCM) and Trade & Supply Chain (TSC), with opportunities to contribute to Wholesale Digital and Digital Solutions matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic, proactive and commercially relevant legal advice across PCM and TSC products.
• Advise on development, approval and implementation of new or amended payment, cash management, clearing, liquidity, trade finance and supply chain finance solutions.
• Structure, negotiate and draft complex, non‑standard or cross‑border customer transactions and related documentation.
• Identify and manage legal risk, delivering proportionate and cost‑effective advice.
• Assess regulatory changes, support compliance and interact with regulators as needed.
• Conduct contract due diligence and support governance of partnerships, joint ventures and strategic arrangements.

Required profile

• Extensive post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm, ADI or comparable in‑house environment.
• Strong technical expertise in banking or financial services law with ability to manage legal risk.
• Experience in one or more Transaction Banking areas such as payments, cash management, clearing, liquidity, digital solutions, trade finance or supply chain finance.
• Proven track record advising on complex, non‑standard or cross‑border transactions.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize changing demands and deliver accurate advice under pressure.
