Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Join Allianz Insurance Singapore as a Senior Legal Counsel and act as the principal legal advisor on insurance, corporate and commercial matters. You will partner with senior management to provide strategic legal guidance, ensure regulatory compliance and support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pragmatic legal advice on insurance, corporate, commercial and operational issues to senior management and stakeholders.
• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documentation, ensuring alignment with Singapore regulations and Allianz Group standards.
• Guide the business on MAS requirements, data privacy, corporate governance and other regulatory developments.
• Identify legal risks in strategic initiatives, product development and operational projects and propose commercially sound solutions.
• Lead and manage disputes, litigation and regulatory inquiries, including oversight of external counsel.
• Develop and enhance legal, governance and regulatory frameworks, policies and controls.
• Advise on Board and Committee reporting requirements and support corporate governance matters.
• Drive continuous improvement of legal processes, templates and knowledge management.
• Deliver legal and regulatory training and awareness across the organisation.
• Stay updated on legal and market developments to anticipate emerging risks and opportunities.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore legal and regulatory frameworks, including insurance regulations, MAS requirements, corporate law and data protection.
• Proven experience advising on corporate, commercial, contractual, regulatory and operational matters.
• Hands‑on experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Exposure to dispute resolution, litigation management and handling regulatory inquiries.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Resourceful, adaptable and meticulous with sound professional judgement.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot is an advantage.
