Senior Manager / Assistant Director – Longitudinal Studies

About the role

The Strategy, International & Research Directorate at MSF is seeking a Senior Manager/Assistant Director to lead its longitudinal research agenda. You will oversee multi‑wave surveys and administrative data to generate insights on social mobility, family outcomes, and long‑term trajectories, informing policy and programme improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Shape MSF’s research agenda on social mobility with a focus on longitudinal evidence.
• Design, implement, and enhance the flagship longitudinal panel survey, including questionnaire development, fieldwork, sampling, data quality, and knowledge management.
• Conduct and lead longitudinal data analyses to study family trajectories and translate findings into policy‑relevant insights.
• Collaborate with internal divisions, whole‑of‑government bodies, and external partners to co‑develop studies and apply results to policy and programmes.

Required profile

• Strong quantitative methods expertise and analytical thinking.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proven project management experience.
• Experience working with longitudinal or panel datasets (advantageous).
• Familiarity with social policies and social mobility issues (advantageous).

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one statistical/data analysis software such as R, Python, SPSS, or STATA.
