Senior Mechanical Engineer - Semiconductor Facilities

About the role

Micron Singapore is looking for a Staff/Senior Engineer for its mechanical systems in semiconductor facilities. You will lead and oversee the planning, design, construction, testing, commissioning and operational readiness of wet and dry mechanical systems, requiring strong technical expertise and project management skills.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of wet systems (chilled water, cooling water, make-up water, fire protection, PCW, plumbing, sanitary systems, underground services) and dry systems (HVAC, process exhaust, process vacuum, compressed dry air, cleanroom and non-cleanroom makeup air).
• Review and approve technical specifications, equipment selection and detailed engineering drawings, and coordinate with electrical, structural and process teams.
• Deliver detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning (T&C) and handover, ensuring systems interface with process tools and other facility infrastructure.
• Oversee installation and construction, manage contractors and subcontractors, conduct site inspections and ensure testing, balancing and commissioning meet operational requirements.
• Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and equipment commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with local and international codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, FM, UBC, UFC, UMC, IBC, IMC, IFC, NEC) and enforce safety protocols for high-risk activities such as high-pressure piping and HVAC installation.
• Manage emissions, noise and other environmental impacts with environmental teams, and lead end-to-end mechanical construction programs within budget and schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction or program/project management, with at least 5 years in the semiconductor industry.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale mechanical infrastructure projects.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; able to manage multiple concurrent projects and adapt to changing priorities.

Required skills

• Preferred: proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Preferred: experience in semiconductor, data center, pharmaceutical or industrial facility design, construction and T&C.
• Familiarity with energy-efficient systems and sustainability practices.
• Experience with AI-enabled tools, data analytics platforms, digital engineering solutions or automation technologies.

The role splits time between office work for planning and reporting and on-site presence during construction, installation and commissioning; extended hours may be needed to meet deadlines.
