Senior Principal Analyst - Gas Industry

About the role

This role sits within a team focused on economic regulation of the energy sector, ensuring fair and efficient markets. The analyst reviews economic regulation frameworks, regulated fees and tariffs, and helps shape policy that promotes competition, security of supply and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Review economic regulation frameworks so that natural monopolies have appropriate incentives to operate efficiently and invest prudently in energy infrastructure.
• Assess regulated fees and tariffs charged by monopolies to ensure adequate recovery of prudent investments.
• Review regulated gas tariffs.
• Review the licensing framework to support new business models and energy technologies, and assess licence applications from new entrants to the gas sector.
• Handle consumer enquiries and feedback.

Required profile

• Education in economics, accountancy, finance, business or a related field.
• Relevant experience in economic analysis and policy work; experience in economic regulation of natural monopolies or large-scale infrastructure is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Able to work independently and in a team, under tight timelines, with interdisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
