Senior Regional Data & AI Engineer

About the role

Menarini, a leading international biopharmaceutical company, is looking for a Senior Regional Data & AI Engineer to design, develop and maintain a robust data foundation across the APAC region. The engineer builds data pipelines, develops data models and deploys AI algorithms to optimise commercial performance, working closely with cross-functional and corporate teams on sales, marketing, supply chain, customer and omnichannel data.

Key responsibilities

• Lead data engineering initiatives using agile frameworks, managing backlogs and adapting to changing commercial needs.
• Design, develop and scale end-to-end data pipelines that extract, transform and load data from ERP, CRM, supply chain systems, e-commerce APIs and omnichannel platforms into centralised cloud and on-premise systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline failures to ensure data reliability and uptime.
• Create and manage regional master data (products, customers, suppliers, inventory), including assisting market teams such as China with master data migration.
• Develop data models supporting sales forecasting, customer segmentation, pricing optimisation and data consolidation.
• Deploy AI models into production on-premise while meeting strict data privacy, security and governance requirements.
• Define a strategy for a unique customer identifier across omnichannel touchpoints and build a data catalogue for commercial teams.
• Identify new data sources and consolidation opportunities to reduce redundant subscriptions.
• Work with the Corporate team to align regional data initiatives with commercial objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
• At least 3 years of data engineering experience (ingestion, transformation, modelling).
• Ability to process data in Mandarin and work with Chinese markets.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Innovative, agile mindset and attention to detail, with rigorous testing and clear documentation.

Required skills

• SQL and data warehousing concepts.
• Programming in Python and/or R for data manipulation, API integration and model development.
• Data engineering across cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-premise environments.
• Preferred: knowledge of supply chain management and pharmaceutical industry data and regulations.
