Senior Research Fellow – Device & Microfabrication

About the role

The Senior Research Fellow will join the CINTRA joint laboratory to lead a project on low‑temperature transfer of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNTs) onto flexible substrates. The role involves hands‑on experimental work, collaboration with international partners, and dissemination of results through scientific publications.

Key responsibilities

• Grow, transfer, and characterize carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for device integration.
• Develop a low‑temperature transfer method for VACNTs onto flexible platforms.
• Perform post‑transfer electrical and mechanical characterisation of CNT/flexible substrate interfaces.
• Collaborate with partners on the design and fabrication of flexible electronic and photonic devices.
• Draft and co‑author research papers based on experimental findings.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Materials Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of research experience in carbon‑nanotube technologies.
• Proven ability to work in cleanroom environments and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills and a record of scientific publications (advantageous).

Required skills

• Carbon nanotube growth, manipulation and transfer.
• Cleanroom processes: UV lithography, electron‑beam physical vapor deposition (E‑Beam PVD), sputtering, reactive‑ion etching (RIE).
• Electrical and mechanical characterisation techniques.
• Flexible device design and fabrication.
