Senior System Engineer

About the role

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is looking for a Senior System Engineer to join its Sovereign Cloud team in Singapore. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of government‑grade cloud regions, working closely with internal teams and external vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, middleware, cloud infrastructure, applications, and hardware.
• Perform system administration tasks such as backups, capacity planning, performance monitoring, optimization, auditing, and provisioning.
• Use monitoring tools and dashboards to detect issues, improve efficiency, and maintain service performance.
• Manage identity and access controls, including user permissions, activity monitoring, and provisioning.
• Monitor and manage batch processes using schedulers to meet SLA requirements.
• Apply regular patches and updates to address security vulnerabilities, bugs, and performance issues.
• Maintain system security across compute, storage, file systems, and privileged accounts in line with compliance standards.
• Support incident management, troubleshoot issues, handle escalations, and contribute to corrective actions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve system issues, support integrations, and ensure high availability.
• Perform backup, restore, and disaster recovery activities and participate in recovery drills.
• Support cloud operations through CI/CD pipelines, automation, patching, upgrades, and system optimization.

Required profile

• Open only to Singapore Citizens due to government project clearance requirements.
• 8+ years of experience in network administration, systems architecture, database management, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of operating system installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to tune performance and optimize system and application efficiency.
• Experience with systems integration and supporting technology projects.
• Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Knowledge of cloud computing deployment, management, and security.
• Proficiency in scripting to automate tasks and improve system reliability.
