Senior Systems Engineer (RHEL)

About the role

NCS, a technology services firm operating across the Asia Pacific region, is looking for a detail-oriented, analytically minded Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to join its team in Singapore. You will design, implement and maintain robust Linux-based infrastructure supporting enterprise operations, working with cross-functional teams on reliability, security and performance, and mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage RHEL-based infrastructure solutions following best practices
• Handle system administration: user management, access control, patch management and security hardening
• Troubleshoot complex issues, document root causes and implement preventative solutions
• Write automation scripts and tools in Bash, Python or similar languages
• Monitor system performance, capacity and availability, and optimise based on metrics
• Work with application teams, DBAs and network engineers on system integration
• Maintain configuration management solutions and provide technical guidance to junior staff
• Document architectures, configurations, procedures and runbooks
• Stay current with RHEL updates, security patches and emerging enterprise Linux technologies

Required profile

• Singapore citizen only, due to government project sensitivity
• 7+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting RHEL in production environments
• Strong Linux system administration, including kernel tuning, package management and system optimisation
• Infrastructure architecture and design experience, advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Enterprise security knowledge (firewall management, SELinux, access controls)
• Excellent documentation skills

Required skills

• Scripting: Bash, Python or Perl
• Configuration management: Ansible, Puppet or Chef
• Preferred: RHCE or RHCSA certification
• Preferred: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/OpenStack, KVM/VMware, Prometheus/ELK/Splunk, CI/CD, storage and backup/disaster recovery
