Senior/Assistant Director, Technology Development & Commercialization

About the role

The SERI Technology Development & Commercialization (TD&C) Office at the Singapore National Eye Centre seeks a senior leader to drive the translation of research into commercial products, services and ventures. The role focuses on building strategic partnerships, advancing digital health and AI initiatives, and overseeing governance for commercialization activities.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, initiate and nurture strategic partnerships with industry, healthcare institutions, technology firms, research organisations, investors and government agencies.
• Lead business development for collaborative programmes, including Industry Alignment Fund projects and other national innovation schemes.
• Develop business cases and partnership proposals aligned with SERI’s research strengths.
• Assess technical, clinical and market potential of emerging technologies and define commercialization pathways.
• Work with researchers, clinicians and the SingHealth Intellectual Property Office to protect and manage IP.
• Support governance functions such as process improvement, conflict‑of‑interest management and contract review.
• Represent SERI at industry meetings, conferences and networking events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technology development, commercialization or innovation management within the healthcare sector.
• Strong track record of establishing and managing strategic partnerships and collaborative programmes.
• Excellent understanding of digital health, AI, data‑driven healthcare and emerging medical technologies.
• Ability to work closely with researchers, clinicians, industry partners, investors and government bodies.
• Experience with IP protection, COI management and contract negotiation is desirable.
