Senior/Staff Engineer, STPG Product Engineering - Probe
micron · Fab 10N/X
Job description
About the role
Micron is hiring a Senior/Staff Engineer in STPG Product Engineering for its Probe function. The engineer owns probe strategy and silicon learning at wafer test, covering pre-silicon design-to-probe staging, first-silicon bring-up, qualification and high-volume manufacturing. The role defines probe coverage intent, sets limits and guard-bands based on silicon behavior, and drives yield, quality and test-cost outcomes, working closely with Design, DFT, DV, Process Integration, Backend Test and Reliability.
Key responsibilities
- Define and own probe coverage intent, mapping design features, device behavior and process risks into observability, screening, trims and guard-bands.
- Define, release and sustain probe test flows from first silicon through qualification and HVM, and lead probe enablement for NPI and technology ramps.
- Partner with Design, DFT and DV on pre-silicon staging, review DFT architecture, test hooks, observability and redundancy, and take part in pre-silicon verification and simulation reviews.
- Support first-silicon bring-up with engineering probe platforms and lab characterization, correlate early silicon behavior with probe results and provide early silicon learning.
- Drive wafer-level yield learning, bin definitions, failure-mode analysis and screening strategies, and give data-backed feedback to Fab, PI, Design and DV.
- Improve test efficiency through coverage right-sizing and flow optimization, support wafer-level speed activities, and balance coverage, yield, quality and cost.
- Use probe, inline and reliability data for yield analysis and anomaly detection, and contribute to AI/ML initiatives such as predictive probe, smart sampling and test optimization.
Required profile
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering (hardware, circuits or semiconductor focus), Semiconductor Physics or related field.
- Strong fundamentals in semiconductor devices, wafer test and product engineering.
- Ability to use silicon characterization data to make informed probe, yield and coverage decisions.
- Experience or strong interest in silicon learning, device behavior, yield mechanisms, DFT intent or design-to-manufacturing integration.
- Strong analytical skills, structured root-cause analysis, and effective communication across global, cross-functional teams.
