SERT Supplier Engineer

About the role

The SERT Supplier Engineer acts as the primary liaison between manufacturing operations and the Supplier Engineering Quality organization. This role protects the factory from supplier‑caused line downtime by leading excursion response and driving continuous improvement at supplier sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Supplier Engineering Excursion Response Team (SERT) to evaluate supplier performance and resolve quality incidents.
• Drive root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification using the 8D methodology.
• Identify and implement systemic supplier process improvements across the supply chain.
• Utilize enterprise‑wide software to document containment, root cause, corrective actions, and verification.
• Train suppliers, conduct process audits, and promote sound testing methodologies aligned with corporate and industry standards.
• Support development, documentation, and execution of Applied Materials’ global Quality Management System.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in supplier management, manufacturing engineering, and quality engineering within the semiconductor industry.
• Ability to interpret business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
• Proven leadership of functional teams or projects with moderate complexity.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to lead complex issue resolution.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders and resolve conflicts.
