Site Safety Coordinator

About the role

The Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment on construction sites. This role oversees daily hazard identification, compliance with safety regulations, and coordinates emergency response and incident investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily site walkthroughs to audit unsafe acts, conditions, housekeeping and proper use of PPE.
• Identify and log physical, chemical, mechanical and electrical hazards, initiating corrective actions.
• Verify that machinery, scaffolds, lifting gear and power tools have valid inspection certificates and monthly tags.
• Review and approve Permit‑to‑Work for high‑risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, work at height, lifting, excavation and LOTO.
• Lead or supervise daily/weekly toolbox talks to communicate specific hazards and control measures.
• Deliver safety inductions for new workers, subcontractors and visitors, and coordinate specialized toolbox briefings.
• Maintain and inspect emergency equipment, organize evacuation drills and act as first responder during incidents.
• Assist in incident reporting, root‑cause analysis and maintain safety logs, inspection checklists and corrective‑action registers.
• Support safety managers during external regulatory inspections and ISO/OHSAS compliance audits.
