Software Engineer – Apple Services Engineering

About the role

As a Software Engineer on the Apple Services Engineering (ASE) Core Services team, you will design and improve features that power Apple client applications such as Apple Music, Podcasts, TV, the App Store, Arcade, and Fitness+. You will work on large‑scale, distributed systems that serve millions of users worldwide, with a strong focus on performance and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance server‑side components and APIs for Apple services.
• Design, implement, and maintain high‑availability, low‑latency distributed systems.
• Optimize performance using metrics like median, 95th and 99th percentiles.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Apple to deliver customer‑facing features.
• Continuously evaluate and improve data stores, scalability, and system reliability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in JVM languages (Java, Scala, Clojure) or other object‑oriented languages such as C++, Go, or C#.
• Strong object‑oriented programming skills with deep knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Performance‑oriented mindset, able to question assumptions and work effectively under tight deadlines.
