Software Engineer, Content Safety

About the role

Google’s Content Safety team is looking for a Software Engineer to help protect users from harmful content at scale. You will work on foundational models and collaborate with DeepMind to build safe, responsible AI systems for Google products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy large‑scale ML pipelines for content safety, including model training, inference, and evaluation.
• Build defensive architectures that meet strict Service Level Objectives for reliability and latency.
• Collaborate with product teams to provide tools that enable safe product launches under Responsible AI principles.
• Maintain and improve existing safety infrastructure, reducing technical debt and bug counts.
• Contribute to research and implementation of safety‑adjacent domains such as factuality and product policy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience in Python, Java or C++.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a core ML domain (generative AI, NLP, computer vision, speech/audio, reinforcement learning, recommendation systems, or ML infrastructure).
• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience with ML infrastructure (model training, inference, deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
