Software Engineer – Public Sector Tech

About the role

Open Government Products (OGP) operates like a startup within the Singapore government, building technology solutions that serve the public good. As a Software Engineer you will join a fast‑paced, autonomous team that rapidly prototypes and launches citizen‑focused apps, dashboards and digital services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for mobile, web and backend platforms supporting projects such as ScamShield, ParkingSG, and FormSG.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and other engineers to turn ideas into functional prototypes.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural decisions and ensure high‑quality, secure code.
• Help improve existing systems and create new features that address real‑world public challenges.
• Engage in continuous learning through yearly learning months, hackathons and knowledge‑sharing sessions.

Required profile

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong passion for using technology to improve citizens' lives.
• Ability to work autonomously in a flat, open‑sourced environment.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and comfort with rapid prototyping and fast iteration.
