Special Education Teacher – Queenstown

About the role

The Special Education Teacher will deliver student‑centred, evidence‑based instruction to learners aged 7‑18 with diverse learning needs at Lee Kong Chian Gardens School. The role also involves building strong relationships with students, families and multidisciplinary teams to support holistic development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver student‑centred, evidence‑based lessons for learners aged 7‑18 with diverse needs.
• Develop and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEP) and Individualised Transition Plans (ITP) in collaboration with families, therapists and allied professionals.
• Maintain a safe, structured classroom environment and manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour plans.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback and adjust instructional supports to close learning gaps.
• Participate in professional learning teams, CCA activities and school committees, and handle daily administrative tasks such as attendance tracking.

Required profile

• GCE ‘A’ Levels, Diploma or Degree in any discipline, or Diploma in Autism, Education or Special Education.
• Relevant experience teaching students with special needs (advantageous) and a passion for supporting each child’s personal growth.
• Ability to work with children and youth aged 7‑18 and collaborate with social workers, therapists and fellow teachers.
