Staff Nurse – Radiation Oncology (Office Hours)

About the role

The Staff Nurse will provide direct patient care for individuals undergoing radiation therapy, ensuring safe and compassionate support throughout the treatment pathway during office hours.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise patient care assistants and health attendants in the assigned area.
• Perform clinical tasks such as wound dressing, IV cannulation, blood draws, and patient sedation.
• Brief patients and families before consultations, CT simulations, radiation treatments and post‑treatment follow‑up.
• Assist radiation oncologists during consultations and required procedures.
• Maintain and stock emergency trolleys, oxygen cylinders, high‑alert medications and other clinical supplies.
• Ensure cleanliness of consultation rooms, proper waste disposal (sharps, biohazard, general waste) and equipment upkeep.
• Liaise with department managers, therapists and other staff to coordinate patient scheduling and manage laboratory/imaging results.
• Provide guidance to junior personnel and participate in continuing education activities.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing (or equivalent) with a professional nursing licence.
• Minimum two years of experience in oncology nursing, preferably in a radiotherapy setting.
• Comfortable caring for paediatric and elderly patients.
• Adherence to nursing codes of practice and radiation protection regulations.
