Technical Specialist – Natural Sciences & Science Education

About the role

The National Institute of Education seeks a Technical Specialist for its Natural Sciences and Science Education Department to ensure smooth laboratory operations and safety for teaching and research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for pre‑service, in‑service and post‑graduate lab classes.
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments and equipment used in teaching and research.
• Set up laboratory sessions, ensuring equipment and consumables are ready and clean up after use.
• Plan and budget for primary science instrument maintenance, upgrades, spare parts and consumables.
• Ensure laboratory instruments are in good working condition, maximise their lifetime and enforce safety procedures.
• Perform additional duties in other science laboratories as assigned.

Required profile

• Polytechnic Diploma in Physics, Biology or Chemistry.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in a science or laboratory environment.
• High level of safety awareness and ability to follow safety protocols.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team.
