Technical Writer for Underwater Robotics (1‑Year Contract)

About the role

BeeX is preparing to launch a new Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle and needs a technical writer to produce the end‑user manual, quick‑start guide, checklists and training materials. You will work closely with engineering and operations to turn technical specifications into clear, operator‑focused documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a complete documentation set (manual, quick‑start guide, checklists, training deck) for the underwater vehicle.
• Design the information architecture based on operator workflow (mission planning, pre‑dive, launch, dive, recovery, post‑dive).
• Interview operators and subject‑matter experts, shadow workshops and field operations to capture real‑world usage.
• Define templates, terminology, and conventions for warnings, cautions and notes.
• Validate usability through walkthroughs with first‑time operators and revise content accordingly.
• Establish version‑control and a simple update process to keep documentation in sync with hardware and software changes.

Required profile

• Proven experience writing user manuals or instructional guides for physical/hardware products, preferably in marine, robotics or consumer electronics.
• Ability to translate technical/engineering input into clear, non‑technical language.
• Demonstrated end‑to‑end ownership of a documentation set, including structure, standards and maintenance.
• Strong user‑centred mindset with experience observing or testing with operators.
• Portfolio of similar work and comfort interviewing SMEs directly.
