Technician – Assembler

About the role

The Technician – Assembler is responsible for building, repairing, and testing a variety of electro‑mechanical equipment in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. You will work from detailed work orders, ensuring high‑quality assemblies while adhering to clean‑room standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists to assemble, repair, and test electrical, electro‑mechanical, vacuum, and pneumatic components.
• Perform a wide range of assembly operations, troubleshoot issues, and execute repairs on sub‑assemblies and complete units.
• Receive incoming parts, conduct audits for completeness, inspect for defects, and suggest process improvements.
• Utilise test fixtures, electronic measurement equipment, leak detectors, and vacuum pumps to verify functionality of assemblies.
• Document progress, labor details, and expenses through data entry; perform basic computer programming, repairs, or software installations as required.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and act as an informal resource for junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum NITEC or Diploma qualification.
• 2–4 years of experience in semiconductor or display manufacturing, or comparable industry/military experience.
• Relevant technical training or certifications (e.g., ASSEET, BSEET).
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a clean‑room environment, including standing for long periods, lifting, and using personal protective equipment.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical assembly and troubleshooting.
• Interpretation of schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists.
• Operation of test fixtures, electronic measurement tools, leak detectors, and vacuum pumps.
• Basic computer programming, software installation, and data entry.
• Use of hand and power tools; forklift or heavy‑machinery operation (if required).
