Trading Operator – Petrochemicals

About the role

As a Trading Operator you will ensure seamless trade operations for a leading petrochemical trading firm. You will combine strategic planning with precise execution, working closely with traders, charterers and asset teams to drive operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Optimise deal profitability through effective voyage planning and execution.
• Streamline workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Oversee end‑to‑end supply‑chain activities, including sourcing, cargo delivery, payments and demurrage handling.
• Review deal terms, prepare sales contracts and General Terms & Conditions, and ensure adherence to nomination dates.
• Support chartering teams with vessel clearance, post‑fixture optimisation and demurrage claim management.
• Handle trade‑finance documentation, credit terms, price approvals and settlements such as telegraphic transfers.
• Utilise trading‑operations software (e.g., Aspect) for daily tasks.
• Negotiate and finalise contracts post‑deal, assess operational risks and implement control procedures.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and manage stakeholder relationships across internal and external teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of operations experience in the oil or petrochemical industry.
• Degree in engineering or supply‑chain management preferred, but not mandatory.
• Strong understanding of trade agreements, industry standards, logistics and procurement processes.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, with high attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Aspect or similar trading‑operations platforms.
