Vessel Performance Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Newbuilding & Innovation, the Vessel Performance Manager is responsible for monitoring, analysing and improving the energy performance of individual vessels and the fleet. Using vessel data, technical knowledge and operational insight, the role identifies inefficiencies, reduces fuel consumption and emissions, and supports regulatory compliance while ensuring safe and reliable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor vessel and fleet performance using noon and high‑frequency data, detecting abnormal fuel consumption, efficiency deterioration and data‑quality issues.
• Conduct vessel‑level performance investigations for the allocated fleet, distinguishing hull, propeller, machinery and operational causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Analyse the performance of main engines, auxiliary engines, boilers and associated supporting systems.
• Manage environmental compliance activities, including CII analysis, SEEMP updates and EEXI assessments, and support yearly regulatory reporting (IMO MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU).
• Evaluate the measured performance of energy‑saving technologies and operational‑efficiency initiatives, identifying improvement opportunities.
• Produce clear vessel and fleet performance reports and present evidence‑based recommendations to technical, operational and commercial stakeholders.
• Coordinate performance‑improvement actions with Vessel Managers, ship staff and commercial operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in monitoring and analysing vessel performance and fuel consumption.
• Strong understanding of marine engineering systems, including main and auxiliary engines and boilers.
• Familiarity with maritime environmental regulations and compliance frameworks such as CII, SEEMP, EEXI, IMO MRV, EU ETS and FuelEU.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate analytical findings into actionable improvements.
