Visual Inspection Technician – Optics

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Visual Inspection Technician specialized in optics to work in a cleanroom environment in Singapore. You will perform hands‑on inspection, classification and documentation of optical components used in semiconductor and display equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform incoming, in‑process and final visual inspections of manufactured parts under bright and dark‑field lighting.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers and measuring microscopes to assess dimensions and defects.
• Classify defects, collaborate with engineering for process improvement and resolve quality issues.
• Prepare and maintain outgoing quality records, ensuring traceability and accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum Nitec/Higher Nitec qualification in Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Opticianry or related field.
• Experience inspecting parts in semiconductor, optics or photonics manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese, with willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime.

Required skills

• Proficient use of vernier calipers, micrometers and measuring microscopes.
• Familiarity with Smart Scope and Vision Measurement Systems (advantage).
• Competence with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.
