Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSH)

About the role

The Workplace Safety & Health Officer will lead the development and maintenance of Safety & Health Management Systems on construction sites, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and corporate EHS policies. The role combines strategic risk mitigation, hands‑on inspections, and active participation in the company’s EHS Committee.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, implement and uphold project and corporate Safety & Health Management System (SHMS) protocols on‑site.
• Identify, assess and mitigate workplace and process‑related risks; develop and enforce safe work procedures.
• Conduct routine workplace inspections, investigate accidents or non‑compliance incidents, and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Deliver in‑house safety training sessions and act as secretary for the WSH Committee, presiding in the chairman’s absence.
• Prepare and manage safety cost budgets, aiming for zero‑accident rates and minimizing re‑work.
• Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure robust health and safety protocols throughout the construction lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and a valid WSHO licence.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Singapore’s building and construction industry; completion of a full HDB BTO project cycle is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of the Workplace Safety & Health Act and related statutory requirements.
• Proficiency in conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
• Ability to devise and implement practical safety solutions on construction sites.
